2026 ASOT Board Elections

The American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma is seeking nominations to fill multiple positions for the ASOT Board of Directors. Applications are now open, and the position descriptions and process for applying are outlined below:

Technology (IT) Chair - Information Technology Chair is responsible for managing ASOT’s server and website. In addition, the Information Technology Chair will assist ASOT’s management company in technologic needs. Eligibility: Must hold regular, military, member emeritus, or international membership with ASOT. Member Emeritus cannot serve as President, Vice-President, Secretary or Treasurer. Term – 3 Years

Membership Chair - The Membership Chair oversees the membership list and will work with ASOT’s management company to ensure timely payment of membership dues. Eligibility: Must hold regular, military, member emeritus, or international membership with ASOT. Term – 3 Years

Adjunct Member Representative - The Adjunct Member Representative serves as the voice of Adjunct members on the ASOT Board of Directors. This position ensures that the perspectives of non-voting members—including optometrists, advanced practitioners, emergency medical services (EMS) providers, and researchers—are considered in board discussions and society initiatives. Eligibility: Open to any physician, optometrist, advanced practitioner, EMS provider, or researcher/research assistant who qualifies for Adjunct membership in ASOT. Must be an active ASOT member in good standing. Adjunct members do not have voting rights within the society and cannot hold officer positions. Term – 3 Years

Medical Student/Resident Representative - The Medical Student/Resident Board Member position provides early-career trainees with an opportunity to engage in leadership, contribute to the growth of ASOT, and represent the perspectives of students and residents within the society. This role is designed to foster professional development, encourage active participation in trauma education and research, and build the next generation of leaders in ophthalmic trauma. This board member is expected to chair the social media committee, assist with the ASOT newsletter, and Trauma Forum. Eligibility: Current medical student or ophthalmology resident with an interest in ophthalmic trauma. Must hold active membership in ASOT and AAO. Term – 2 Years

Term: Starting January 1, 2026
